Speaking to NME.com, bassist Jared Followill described the album as youthful in spirit. “I thought we were going to make a really mature album, but I'm amazed how youthful it sounds," explained Followill. "It's like a mix of [2006’s] Youth & Young Manhood and [2008’s] Because of the Times." Followill added that the music is currently being sequenced.
The yet-to-be-titled disc will be the Nashville-based band’s first full-length studio release since 2010’s Come Around Sundown. Last September, Followill told Rolling Stone the group was at work on new material, saying, “We’re just trying to have fun with it and just have a relaxed-type thing.” This summer, prior to the album’s release, Kings of Leon will hit the road for handful of shows, including headlining slots at the Governor’s Ball in New York City in June, and the U.K.’s V Festival in August.
