1966, Buffalo Springfield made their live debut opening for The Byrds at a concert in San Bernardino, California.

1967, The Walker Brothers, Cat Stevens, The Jimi Hendrix Experience and “Special Guest Star” Engelbert Humperdinck U.K. package tour appeared at the Odeon, Blackpool. Tickets cost 5 and 10 shillings ($0.70 and $1.40).

1972, Roberta Flack started a six-week run at #1 on the U.S. singles chart with the Ewan MacColl song “The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face” (#14 in the UK). The song was featured in the Clint Eastwood film Play Misty For Me.

1982, Billy Joel spent a month in the hospital after breaking his left wrist when his motorbike hit a car in Long Island, New York.

1987, Queen were presented with an award for Outstanding Contribution to British Music at the 32nd Annual Ivor Novello Awards held in London.

2001, Punk pioneer Joey Ramone, singer of The Ramones, died at age 49 after losing a long battle with lymphatic cancer. On November 30, 2003, a block of East 2nd Street in New York City was officially renamed Joey Ramone Place.

2009, Former Beatle George Harrison was honored with a posthumous star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in Los Angeles. Paul McCartney attended the unveiling outside the landmark Capitol Records building, joining Harrison’s widow Olivia and son Dhani. Eric Idle, Tom Petty and actor Tom Hanks also attended the ceremony.
