Cornell recently fielded fans’ Twitter questions via American Songwriter and when asked if he listens to any new music that’s out there, he gave a fuzzy reply. “[I am] always listening to new music, but [it’s] rare to hear new artists who make entire albums that draw me in. I feel it’s a dying art. I like Chris Daughtry and Max Navarro: I guess they deserve more success.”
On another note, Cornell told fans that his “proudest accomplishment” is “my relationship with my wife Vicky. We’ve lived [and] thrived through the darkest periods [and] came out stronger [and] closer.”
Cornell also explained that he’s completely self-taught on guitar, and that teaching himself has “limited me in some ways, but [been] very helpful in others. My only goal to playing was to write songs.” Cornell’s solo jaunt wraps up December 17 in San Diego, California. After that, Soundgarden are expected to roll out their new album in 2012.
