NEW ROCK RELEASES OF THE WEEK - JUNE 26

"Below The Belt"
DANKO JONES - BELOW THE BELT (Bad Taste Records)
Below The Belt is the place where the best rock 'n' roll comes from, and the place where these 11 songs hit you. On this release, Danko Jones sounds more like the hungry power trio that first broke out nationally in Canada with 1999's My Love Is Bold EP, which provided the first hints that these garage-punk noisemakers had the pop chops to go global. However, while Danko was eager to play the victim of love in the past, Below The Belt finds him having the last laugh in the face of love, saying the things that are on all of our minds but we're too afraid to admit. "On Fire"
PETER FURLER - ON FIRE - (Sparrow Records)
Peter Furler returns to music after ending his long tenure in 2009 as the lead singer of Newsboys, the band he founded in Australia. Refreshed and reawakened to the joy of music, Furler releases his first solo album, On Fire. 'There is a fire shut up in my bones that I have not been able to hold in since I was a child,' says Furler. 'For me, I find its release through melody and testimony.'

Although initially not planning to release any of the new music created during this time, the result of this redefining period led to the most joyful and uplifting music of Furler's career. Music fans are already catching a glimpse of the rejuvenated Furler after hearing the first radio single from On Fire. Christian Rock
